William Mitchell and Joseph Gillott Dip Pens

We are proud to offer a selection of high quality British made dip pen ancillaries from William Mitchell and Joseph Gillott. These pen nibs complement our Professional Watercolours and contribute to the pleasure and experience of using them. They allow fine detailing that really enhances watercolour painting.

Established in 1825, William Mitchell has had a long history of making pen nibs. He became one of the leading nib manufacturers and is famous for lettering pens. William Mitchell established his business in Birmingham during the early part of the nineteenth century and is still manufacturing there.

Formed in 1827 and also based in Birmingham, Joseph Gillott was one of the pioneers of mass steel pen nib manufacturing. Famous for their artist drawing and mapping nibs, they amalgamated with British pens in 1969, who also owned the William Mitchell brand at the time. Both William Mitchell and Joseph Gillott, are now trading as William Mitchell (calligraphy) Ltd.
